@mjc775
I'm going to type of an explanation of how the apps work, because I don't think the hosted solution changes anything about how the local method works and if anything only improves it for you going forward.
Creating/Editing Custom App
This will work almost the same for you as it did in TechWARU, you will get a File Dialog pop up, browse for a file and pick the file you want. The only difference is that in the new version, it will also post that file to our web storage. If you want to update an app that you stored with us, you would just edit the custom app, browse for a new file, and it would update both the local and web stored versions.
Running Custom App
The way running a custom app works is the following. First it checks to see if the file exists, if it does not exist it uses the URL saved to download it, then once it verifies it exists it runs it. If your local files exist already then it won't try to download anything. So if for instance, you add a new custom app, browse for it, save the app, and then copy your TechSuite folder to a usb drive and move it to another machine and try to run the app, it will see that the file already exists and run it normally just like it works in TechWARU.
So what's different?
The only difference you will find with this new solution is that you won't always need to be aware of where your own custom files are stored. If you want to download TechSuite fresh on a new client machine and don't have your usb or saved files, it will download it for you. If you want to update the file you can edit the custom app and browse for a new local exe, and it would update the app both locally but also in your storage with us.
If you have any questions about this please let me know, we want it to be as clear as possible!
Thanks,
Garrett
ps. @mjc775 it should be able to run batch files currently, if that is not working for you then that's a bug and I will look into it
